Last Monday’s meeting at the college went very well indeed!
- We made good headway on the primary topic of white boarding goals and aspirations for the neighborhood and the association. We’ve essentially wrapped up that phase of our initial organizational discussion and framing up. We’re still open to suggestions and nothing cast in stone, but in the interest of pressing on…
- We’ve resolved on a new name for our humble assemblage. [ wait for it...
] - We’ve resolved that the left over monies from the prior NESNA organization be put to covering the cost of our not-for-profit application.
- We reviewed while online a bit of how-to for participation in this member’s blog.
- I think we all had a good time just getting together. We’ve got some funny folks showing up.
All in all, not a bad evening’s work for about an hour and a half’s discussion.

In order to be able to receive grants and tax deductible donations, we need to become a Wisconsin corporation and then apply for recognition by the IRS as a 501.c.3 (charitible) corporation.
To assist with the first step, I have prepared a draft of Articles of Incorporation for participants to review and modify. We wil distribute these at the meeting on Nov.24. If you would like to review these sooner, let me know.
Next Meeting – Monday Nov. 10th.

Our next meeting will be held at a different neighbor’s locale who’s better suited to host our number, Beloit College. We’ll be meeting in the Week’s conference room on the 1st floor of Pearson Hall at 7:00 pm.

Pearsons Hall - Beloit College (from their website)
We’ll be picking up where we left off from the prior meeting Oct. 20th. with discussion on aspirations and issues regarding our neighborhood leading to some consensus on priorities and a short list of directions we’d like to take.
Before we break up we’ll take some time to introduce how to log into this forum so you can post items of your own and/or comment on existing posts. We’ll have at least a couple laptops available to help those interested in participating get started.
Hope you can join us!

Last evening’s meeting, I thought was hugely successful.
- It was a great turn out. 36 people showed or roughly 20 households.
- I believe everyone met some new neighbor they’d never known before including those who’ve been in town for a long time. We had a number of people who are new to the neighborhood who met a lot of new people for the first time.
- There was a great cross section of insights, backgrounds, talents and opinions. As a result the level of discussion was very good. The energy and enthusiasm in the room was encouraging.
- I think we had fun. I certainly did.
