Another idea that come up in our last meeting is one practiced in other historic district associations. These associations purchase and make available to their members specialty tools/equipment for old house renovation type projects. There are a variety of specialized tools that you’d use too infrequently to justify purchasing, they’re too unconventional to be found at the local rental store and would be expensive to rent anyway. A couple examples might be:
.
- The Paint Shaver Pro, along with the Sander-Vac & Hepa-Vac. I’m unable to get the link directly to the video to work but there’s a very cool how-to video half way down the Paint Shaver Pro page. Check it out.
.
- The Silent Paint Remover, along with various hands free attachements. A less cool video of The Silent Paint Remover.
These are just a couple suggestions. I’m sure there are more. Nothing worse they trying to do a job knowing there’s an easier/faster way if only you had the right tool. Have you seen something out of the ordinary to suggest?
